Local forums
What are the Local Forums
The Asian Football Network (AFN) wanted to create a platform for a wide range of interested parties to come together and build partnerships with key stakeholders including County FA’s, funders, Football in the Community Schemes, and local authorities, thereby providing an interface for the grassroots football community and key stakeholders.
The local forum also provides opportunity to share knowledge and ideas for the enhancement of the game.
The main aim of the local forums is to create a practical plan of action that will identify new opportunities in participation, training and education for all interested parties.
It is our hope to replicate the local forums beyond London and facilitate the development of a nationwide network.
Local Forums Work-plan
What can be done with strategic partnerships:
- Develop pilot projects for new ideas and directions for the future of the game.
- Create an influential local football network that will develop sustainable opportunities and new dynamic ideas to access mainstream provision, from playing and managing to voluntary work and supporters.
- Organise and develop coaching, training and mentoring programmes with pathways to mainstream provision.
- Organising open days and taster sessions, tournaments and new opportunities in participation for excluded grassroots football projects.
- Enable grassroots projects to access funding, through funding surgeries and workshops and access information on a wide range of issues including club development, charter standard and child protection.
