Asian Football Coaches & Referees
Lack of Asian coaches and therefore role models for the next generation has been one of the key reasons for the lack of structured coaching available to Asian players. Recent years has seen an increase in the amount of Asian coaches taking the Level 1 coaching certificate, but progression to Level 2 and 3 has been disappointingly low. We need to increase access to coaching opportunities and more importantly make sure aspiring coaches are mentored in a structured football environment if we are to see a change in the current situation. We have highlighted three case studies denoting positive role models of Asian coaches at different coaching levels; they show the way football coaching has been a positive and driving force in their personal and professional lives.
